International Fund for Agricultural Development Agrobiodiversity Innovation Challenge applications is open for innovative individuals interested in solving challenges in the agri-food sector by utilizing or conserving agrobiodiversity.

The Agrobiodiversity Innovation Challenge aims to recognize new products, services, and best practices that can help farmers, consumers, and food companies to increase production effectiveness, competitiveness, and resilience while conserving agrobiodiversity.

About International Fund for Agricultural Development

The International Fund for Agricultural Development is a unique agency established in 1977 as one of the outcomes of the World Food Conference in 1974. The organization was created by the United Nations in order to reduce rural poverty in developing countries through working with rural poor people, governments, donors, non-governmental organizations, and many other partners.

More so IFAD gives assistance by granting low-interest loans in support of pro-poor agriculture and management of natural resources in the developing world.IFAD operates in 117 countries and has designed and implemented projects in very different natural, socio-economic and cultural environments.

Requirements for IFAD Agrobiodiversity Innovation Challenge

  • Applicants must be Individuals (e.g. farmers, processors, engineers, etc.) responsible for an innovation with a demonstrated efficiency using novel tools, products, or services to enhance and promote sustainable food and agriculture.
  • Applicants must be International Organizations (IOs)responsible for an innovation with a demonstrated efficiency using novel tools, products, or services to enhance and promote sustainable food and agriculture.
  • Applicants must be Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)responsible for an innovation with a demonstrated efficiency using novel tools, products, or services to enhance and promote sustainable food and agriculture.
  • Applicants must beUniversities responsible for an innovation with a demonstrated efficiency using novel tools, products, or services to enhance and promote sustainable food and agriculture.
  • Applicants must bePrivate Companies responsible for an innovation with a demonstrated efficiency using novel tools, products, or services to enhance and promote sustainable food and agriculture.
